The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay

5.0

(4.5/5) Full disclosure, I am terrible at reading horror (as evidenced in how long this took me to read). My anxiety brain loves this crap and it’s not super fun. HOWEVER! Over this past year I’ve tried my best to get more comfortable with things that make me anxious, so in an act of defiance (and exposure therapy), I read the remaining 56% I had left today. And I am so glad I did.

This book was wild. The writing is beautiful and the horror elements are so realistic it’s hard not to put yourself in the shoes of Andrew and Eric and then freak yourself out. I highly recommend for people who love horror or want to get into it. If I can handle it, so can you. I also very highly recommend reading the PS written by Tremblay that goes over the conception of the novel as well as notes on each chapter. Very good way to wrap up reading this novel.
