The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
5.0

The Kite Runner tells the story of an Afghani boy, Amir, living in Kabul with his father and their Hazara servant and his son Hassan. The book travels the difficult relationship between Amir and his father, as well as the friendship between Amir and Hassan in Kabul. Everything changes when Amir does something that will fill the rest of his life with guilt and remorse for the actions of his young self. Soon, however, Amir and his Baba will flee to America following the war erupting in Afghanistan, where they get a second chance at their relationship. When things seem to have settled down for Amir, the past comes to knock on his door and takes him back to his mother land. There, Amir will take care of the business that has been haunting his adult life in the US, and maybe even find a chance for forgiveness.
Khaled Hosseini writes words full of strong emotions in a story that quickly unravels event after event under the reader's hungry eyes. Through this heartbreaking tale, the author does not miss to give important details of the culture and history of Afghanistan, creating a full three-dimensional story that involves the reader to the core. The only flaw in this book might be a slight excess of drama, right every time everything seems to be turning for the good, but not leaving the reader without a pleasant ending to the story.
