The Goddess of Warsaw by Lisa Barr
4.0

This was a passionate almost visceral WWII novel. Barr did a fantastic job bringing the story and characters to life. I learned a number of things about what occurred in Warsaw and I’m eager to dive deeper into the city’s history during this time period.

I think my only complaint would be I wanted a bit more from the author’s note. Otherwise this book was well-paced, gripping, and evocative. I found her lust for her brother-in-law, while aggressively written at times, honest in the sense that her feelings from before the war wouldn’t just disappear because of the horrors they were facing.

I’m torn between 4 & 5 stars for this book so I’ll give it 4.5 but round down since I’m uncertain.
