This is my kind of horror! I'll preface this with over the years I've tried really hard to find horror written by black authors that weren't rooted in some sort of trauma, mainly slavery. But this book here is just straight to the point horror and I love it! Midway in as I was explaining to my husband about the book I asked him if he'd heard of children being born in storms. Bc ppl tend to be superstitious around rain/storms for weddings but are they that way for births? Bc Leo's entry earthside was a doozy. And that lil child and his backpack scared the mess outta me 😂 I was so scared and concerned for Craven throughout the book. I just knew whatever was gonna happen it was gonna be bad. But Paul and what he did shocked me the most. Bc what was in that daggon diary!?!? And Claire I somewhat want to hold her responsible for this but I know in my ❤ of ❤s Pharoah pulled a Jedi mind trick and whispered these thoughts into her head. For all I know he could be the real reason behind her not being able to have a baby bc Leo was supposed be in their lives. Idk! But what I do know is Leo is a psychopath. And this needs to be a movie. This was my first time reading this author's work and it will not be the last.
