I absolutely LOVED this book. The more it went on the more I liked it and got engaged. Inspiring, empowering, haunting, and so real (even despite the supernatural elements).

Normally I would not be interested in reading a book with so many trigger topics of this kind. And still, during and after, it left me feeling empowered and hopeful. And not gross in the way that most things on these topics do. I think because it was was so feminist and was so clearly and unapologetically by women for women.

The description made me think it was one thing and it turned out to be so much bigger. What a phenomenal premise, with older women becoming their most powerful. I loved how head on it tackled the issues women face. Descriptive and real, without doing so for shock value.

I loved how so many experiences were covered by the three main characters.

I can’t believe I’ve never read a work of fiction with older female main characters. And I love that it had subplots of romance and family, without centering those things at all.

I LOVED the Eve chapter at the end. That was so freaking cool and well written.

I loved the plot twists that happened all the way to the end.

I took off .25 stars because I felt it ended a little abruptly. Also I think the beginning of the book was a little slow and misleading as to what course the whole thing would take. Kind of annoying how so many characters introduced at the beginning were actually unimportant. Also, what ever happened to Celeste’s husband and her relationship with him?
And, I still wish some of the villains were punished even more! It would have been cool to see at least one of them rotting in prison.
Also, is Harriet psychic or not!?!?!

Overall, this book made me feel so good and seen and hopeful, and I will be recommending it for sure. I’m so glad I read it at this stage of my life. It was healing and restorative in ways I never would have expected, and reminded me again how my life is only just beginning.
