The Secret Supper by Javier Sierra

2.0

I had hoped this would be like the Da Vinci Code or The Name of the Rose and was rather disappointed. This was slow going until half way through the book and then it started getting interesting with some murders. I found the whole idea of the hidden images and the riddles rather tiresome and it's hard to believe the turf wars over the doctrines of the Church. Turf wars is too kind a term as any person who thought differently was labeled a heretic and killed. Whole villages were cleansed of their sins. Leonardo da Vinci came across like Sherlock Holmes in this story, just an uncanny mind and ability to do most anything. The inquisitor who tells us this story was never the same from his experience. Still worth a read to get the feel of the religious struggles of that time.
