Was expecting a story about gender (I’ve since seen this book in LGBT+ sections, possible since the bookshop staff made the same mistake), and yeah I was disappointed.
The writing is kind of more basic than I remember Holes having, and it definitely came across as a book for kids. It was decidedly not made for me.
Generally I found the characters unlikable, which was so disappointing.
Ah well. Not a book for me and I can live with that!
