Elise Kova the woman you are! What an amazing start to a brilliant new series that melds the magic of tarot cards into a completely unique and engaging new world! The world building of this story is EXTENSIVE. You can tell Kova put a lot of effort into making sure all the different moving parts make sense within the context of the world she was creating. You definitely don’t need to have an existing knowledge basis of tarot, but it did definitely help me understand some nuances throughout the story by having some background knowledge.
This was also such a well done Enemies to Lovers story! Often times I feel authors are a little too quick to use the term as a buzz word, however no these really are enemies and seeing them become lovers was oh so satisfying.
What a cliffhanger though, it’s going to be an AGONIZING wait for the next book!
