I think this book should come with a warning that if you hadn't read the first three Mercy Thompson novels you would be super confused. Even this book sort of starts after something big happens that readers don't get to see. I didn't mind that because I'm glad we didn't get to see Anna being tortured, beaten, and raped. But we do see her trying to recover from it, learning to trust again, and holding her own.

Also I'm really interested in Leah's character, who Bran supposedly chosen for being selfish and stupid, and the first we glimpse of her she slutshames a woman for no reason other than she's a mate of her step-son and overall acts like a bitch. But I feel like there might be more to her character, especially considering there has to be more to her for Bran to tolerate her.
