I read this for the first time when I was too young to appreciate it - not that age equals knowledge, but in the case of emotional/psychological in the environment of getting older and the pressures it comes with. Definitely not a book to read if you are in a good mood, despite the (questionably) ‘happy ending’. A raw and vulnerable depiction of mental illness, one which causes you to handle the book with care, and in my case, take the reading of it slowly.
