There is a lot of beauty to this story of a friendship that spans over 30 years. The writing style was beautiful, some chapters were absolutely stunning- like Marx's one, and overall it made me feel lots of feels which is what you want out of a book. I really liked the gaming setting as well, though I'm not a gamer.
But also there's a lot that felt problematic, I understand that these things were probably intentional to show how imperfect relationships are, despite their depth, but at the same time it felt like things like toxic relationships were normalised. A lot of what was probably intended to be misunderstandings between Sadie and Sam seemed to me just Sadie being self-centered and selfish.
There's a lot I appreciated about the book, but I also didn't really connect with the characters, aside from Marx - I guess we were not intended to, anyway.
There should be a very clear trigger warning list at the beginning as there's LOTS of triggers in there!
