(maybe I will come later and adjust my rating, but at this point, I'm still on the fence about whether it deserves a higher one)

Landon: I appreciate the unnecessary opinion, though it's pointless when I lack the fucks to give... - narcissist much?

Hear me out. By now, I have read only books from the Legacy of Gods series. What I understand is that the author has somewhat of an in-depth knowledge of the human psyche. Either through professional education/ interests or her own experiences. (And I am aware that most of the people reading the series are coming for the 🔥🌶, but in my case, although I appreciate it, it's just of somewhat background score). And then I read this quote almost at the beginning of the book - and I was "Oh, well, this might be it". What are you trying to do here Rina Kent? Are you an author who triggers a reader with the most selfish & self-absorbed MMC statement in the universe and then creates and puts him in Rinaverse to try to change mostly negative opinions and stigmas about personality traits and mental health issues of the said MMC?
So. Let's make Landon and make everyone fall in love with him. Our resident psyho...

Landon: Humans, by nature, can't live without the promise of hope, as false as it might get. It doesn't matter if the doomed reality of their situation hits them in the face. if they believe there's a light at the end of the tunnel, they'll go for it. Over and over again. There's nothing worse than hope. Hope is the medicine of all fools, which is why I make complete use of it in any possible situation... - psychopath much?

Oh, Landon, you are not making your case at all, at least in my book. I see you are trying your best to "mask" in front of Mia and to make an act to adapt to accepting social structures, but, you - my dude - are failing spectacularly.

This combination of narcissistic psychopath was a bit hard for me to process. The fact that I have such strong feelings about it makes me rate this book high. Because it made me think and contemplate and hate and fume and even hit that smug Landons face. Because it's all about him - the selfish prick. The fact that I literally hate the prick wants me also to rate this book 0.

Mia: Hope... is the falsification of reality. The yearning for a different dream. A feeling of being on the cloud that can't be reached in the real time...
FANTASTIC interpretation not only of "hope" as a subject of this particular book but also of a READING in general. Just exchange the noun hopereading.

Give me some time to get over my Landons distaste and maybe I will come back and give this book 5⭐️...

Rina Kent, I see you!
