“Well, the leaf itself is long gone. Decayed. But it left its mark, did it not? There is still something of it left behind. Or are you to say the leaf itself was an illusion because it exists no more?”
This was a fun read, and I definitely enjoyed it more than I expected to. I got my copy from Book of the Month, and the main reason I chose it was because it was the only historical fiction book for the March 2023 options. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Lenna and Vaudeline are such intriguing characters, and I thoroughly enjoyed the build up in their relationship. Mr. Morley was also a very interesting character, and his part in this whole story was very well written in my opinion. This would have been a fun read for October/November, or just autumn in general.
