I really liked this book (and can't wait for the next one) but it was kind of all over the place. It was almost farcical, which is why I think it ended up working out so well for me. House Parties! Pretend Engagements! Slap-slap-kiss!!!! (for TWO COUPLES!) The only trope I didn't need was the

crazy-pants missionary's daughter

, but I'll allow it because the rest of the tropes were my catnip.

Also the stepback is EVERYTHING, look at these delightful goobers giggling
