Stuart Little by E.B. White
2.0

Another book where the main character does a lot of things but NOTHING HAPPENS. Can someone please tell me why E. B. White is so highly praised as an author? I've yet to find a book of his that I enjoyed.

I get that this is episodic by chapter, which is supposed to be great for children with short attention spans so they can drop the book and come back to it and not have to remember what happened last, but this is not at all cohesive, ends abruptly, and is a bit of a snooze fest. The characters manage to be flatter than Flat Stanley and obnoxious all at the same time.

I have seen the movie version a few times and it is much better than the book. While the entire thing is fantasy and unrealistic (talking mouse, and all) the movie makes everything somewhat more.... plausible?

Back to half price this one goes to let down someone new.
