Post Disclaimer: I love Ilona Andrews writing so the fact that I received this as a giveaway was gravy and my history will show that I'm consistently a fan of this wife/husband writing team.

Sadly, it does appear that I skipped over book 3 in my eagerness to start with this book. The good news is that it really stands on it's own extremely well. Focusing on Nevada's sister Catalina is a nice change because all of the House Baylor members are interesting and strong characters in their own right.

Lest we forget that this is an Urban Fantasy Romance, there is love interest, but thank God there is *not* a love triangle. Plus, while the standard Andrews trait of the male love interest being a big flirt, Alessandro is also not an obvious fit for Catalina and is a heck of a bad ass (apologies to the Kate Daniels series, but I think Alessandro and Rogan are Kings of the Hill).

There are of course mysterious goings on, I mean the House's business is Baylor Investigations after all, mayhem and murder. You know, all the reasons I read these books. Good humor, interesting magic and fun characters make all of this work. If you're a fan of Urban Fantasy, Andrews is a solid contender for favorite author.
