Catching Fire
by Suzanne Collins
Not that the first book was simple by any means, but this is where we actually start exploring larger themes properly. This book takes everything good about the first one and cranks it up. It’s evident why this is most people’s favourite in the series.
Finding about the beginning of the rebellion through Katniss' POV is so captivating, she's one of my favourite protagonists of all time. Her trauma was portrayed beautifully as well, and the these games are, of course, even more impactful than the previous (I always forget that they're only like 40% of the book this time around, so much happens).
Unfortunately we all know Suzanne was forced to focus a lot more on the love-triangle than she would have liked to. It’s a bit annoying and feels out of place, but I know she did the best she could.
