True Love Bites by Joy Demorra
5.0
I've read more romance books in the last year than I have in my entire life, and this is nothing like any of them, and I enjoyed it all the more for it.
Verbose in a charming way, descriptive but never long-winded, plenty of puns and characters with histories and personalities that make their extended lifetimes feel concrete.
Also. Fantasy politics. I am a slut for fantasy politics.
Feels very distinctly like a fanfic that was grabbed by a plot and given no choice but to commit to it fully. All the best ones are.
This may not be the vibe that everyone is looking for, but I enjoyed meandering my way through the story and letting the frankly incredibly rich world unravel as I went.
Also demon rose cameo
