ghostgirl1661 's review for:
Nineteen Eighty-Four
by George Orwell
1984 was a hard read for me. I mainly read it because I was interesting in the politics of it. I had to look up meaning of lots of words. I had to read and reread sentences and paragraphs.
Overall this book really makes you think, and it’s definitely worth the read.
I read a review that said “it’s a warning not a guide” and I couldn’t agree more. The Party erasing the past, taking false claims and making them true. I got an uneasy feeling reading this book as if I was in Oceania and right along side Winston.
I did not care for the casual mentions of rape and how Julia was seemingly “delighted” that she was the object of one of these violent fantasies. She also seemed to be a 2 dimensional character, but I feel most of the characters were not very complex.
