I have learnt my lesson, style is not everything. This book was so empty! Just a bunch of filler scenes strung together. I chose to read it because of the catchy title. I now know to judge a book more closely than that . Also the causal racism threw me off. We were never given a reason to care about the characters, the story... Just nothing. There should be more to a story than a perfect turn of phrase.
   With that said here's my
Favourite quotes:

  • "SEPTEMBER. IT SEEMS THESE luminous days will never end."

  • "They visit friends, talk, go home in the evening, deep in the life we all agree is so greatly to be desired."

Funny enough these are the first and last lines of the novel.
