Fallen in Love by Lauren Kate
I knew this wouldn't add anything to the series. I knew this. And yet. I'm not entirely sure what forcing Shelby and Miles into a hastily laid down relationship achieves. Or why Roland's story had to be plagued with cliché ideas, and, conversely to what the tile implies, isn't particularly about love at all. His and Arriane's make the tagline look like an embarrassing mistake, because they very clearly do get their hearts broken (sorry to all three fans of Roland and Rosaline and Arriane and Tess out there). Apparently every single fallen angel has to have some kind of doomed relationship. I've got to hand it to Kate, she's found a way to inflate by a further 200 pages a series already so filled with bloat that it struggles to make all its various characters actually have anything to do for 400+ pages in each mainline book.
