I love this play. I love the way Geothe deals with language, I love the way he inverts Faust's bargain so that he'll only belong to the devil in hell if he attains true happiness on Earth, I love the fact that Faust destroys someone he loves in order to keep out of hell. As a piece of dramatic literature, it doesn't get much better than this. Unless I ever get around the reading Faust, Part II?
