Misconduct by Penelope Douglas

FULL REVIEW::::::
First sentence: While most Mardi Gras balls were lively, with performers from their parades that day in attendance to entertain the guests, this particular party overflowed with a very different vibe.
Since I first read Bully when it was released, I have read and loved every book Penelope has released. She’s definitely a favorite author of mine. If she pulled a Beyonce move and released a book without telling anyone, I would drop whatever I was reading at that time in order to read her book ASAP. Her writing style is fresh and she knows how to make you feel every emotion possible. MISCONDUCT was no exception. My emotions were allllll over the place. This was one hell of a ride, but I enjoyed every single moment of it. So much, in fact, that when the last word was read I flipped back to the beginning and read it again. And I still felt every emotion as the first time.
ANGST & BANTER
I love great banter and angst has never bothered me. Easton and Tyler’s chemistry is off the charts from the first moment they meet. The two of them unravel each other and they had some great banter along the way. The two of them first lay eyes on each other during a Mardi Gras party. That moment is intense and intriguing. Each of them are a mystery to the other. Then imagine Easton and Tyler’s surprise when Easton turns out to be his son’s new teacher. Each of them is attracted to each other, but now a romance between them is forbidden. There’s a line that neither wants to jump across. Easton and Tyler get under each other’s skin. Tyler doesn’t like Easton’s teaching methods, Easton calls him out on every shot. Tyler isn’t used to people speaking to him that way. It only makes him more attracted to her.
Every single one of Penelope’s books has been filled with angst. It’s something I have come to expect and crave from her. She writes emotional, intense, angst like no one else. The buildup and anticipation in MISCONDUCT were absolutely delicious. I couldn’t get enough of Easton and Tyler going back-and-forth and all of the banter. AHHH!
I COULDN’T GET ENOUGH OF THE BUILDUP
The buildup and sexual tension-oh my god. I was screaming at these two to just hurry and kiss already. The back-and-forth was driving me crazy. A good crazy, though. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough to see if they would get together on the next page.
Tyler is cocky and a jerk at times. I wanted to hate him, and then I was wishing I was Easton and he was speaking to me like that. He was super intense.He’s used to being in charge and people doing what he wants. Easton on the other hand is strong, independent, sassy, and does what she wants. She keeps Tyler on his toes, that’s for sure. The two of them have a hate-to-love type of thing going on combined with a forbidden romance.
THE BOOK IS SMOKIN’ HOT
When Easton and Tyler finally give into their attraction for each other-AHHH. Have a fan handy because things heat up quickly. The scenes between them filled with passion, heat, and chemistry are smokin’ hot. I loved watching them learn more about each other and really develop a relationship. Tyler cared for Easton and would have done anything she asked him to. I was completely sucked into this story and the forbidden aspect intrigued me more.
Conclusion:
Penelope Douglas has proven once again that she always brings her A-game. It’s very different than her Fall Away series, but still has her fresh writing style that makes you feel every emotion and the intense hate-to-love thing that only she could pull off. I loved Tyler and Easton and was rooting for them until the end. I was captivated and mesmerized by their relationship. The buildup, banter, and mystery of Easton’s past only added to the story. MISCONDUCT had a touch of everything that I love in a good story; it was well-written, had a strong heroine, a jerk of a hero who warmed up and showed his softer side, hate-to-love, and good banter.
Recommended To:
Fans of Penelope Douglas. Also, readers who enjoy forbidden romances, good banter, and hate-to-love tropes.
