I found the book very readable, and the audiobook helped bring the world and characters to life. It was a strong basic premise, working as a competition, but the inner feelings and relationships between the characters made it more interesting. I am not sure at this point of the series how much I like the world building and character backgrounds since we get far too little in this book, but it seems promising as a base to add onto. I wish some various revelations happened earlier, since they were guessable by a certain point. Also, the love triangle seems off because Selena is so deeply infatuated by one man then the next while she is speaking to each, it seems a bit ridiculous at times. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I look forward to reading more when the setting is different from the competition landscape. I hope we see some minor characters again.
