This was hard to read, not because it wasn't well written or illustrated, just because everyone was absolutely terrible to this poor girl. The main character is honestly not even the worst, as he is open about being terrible and eventually not only gets in trouble for it at the moment, but it follows him for years and years. The other students and the teacher though are happy to put all the blame on him and take no responsibility for their own just as terrible actions. I'm kind of leery of reading another volume as I'm not sure I can handle to awfulness of other people anymore. I know in America differently abled people don't have it perfect, but I feel like there would have been a lot more repercussions and a lot more support than is depicted here.
