Okay, firstly - why didn’t I finish this in March?! Secondly - WOW I very much enjoyed this one and can’t wait to read the sequel!
This was so fun and engaging. I loved how Sophie Kim incorporated Korean mythology and folklore into the story. I loved the banter between Seokga and Hani, Seokga’s obsession with coffee, and Hani’s obsession with human food 🤣
For a story set in 1992, there were several modern references that don’t fit the timeline. Cell phones were not at all portable at that time and while yoga leggings may have been a thing, they definitely weren’t called that. This definitely detracted from the story for me, I couldn’t stop fixating on them! It also felt like Seokga and Hani went from hating each other to loving each other super fast. However, Hani’s redemption and that epilogue really clinched this as a new favorite for me.
