This is one of my rare re-reads. I was pretty young when I first read Phantoms during, what I call, my "King-Koontz era". And I wanted to remember how horror used to be (even though Koontz himself never liked the "horror" label).
It felt great to be able to connect with this book after so many years. I had forgotten pretty much everything, and I really enjoyed it, again. It is a good thriller/horror that grabs you right from the beginning and pulls you at a speed that makes it hard to leave the book aside.
There's no doubt that certain aspects of the story feel like they're from another generation. But Koontz is a great storyteller, and it all goes smoothly.
