I can really tell that this was Leigh Bardugo’s first adult novel. It kinda seems like she doesn’t know how to write overt sexuality, and I don’t think it needed to be as graphic as it was. I consume a lot of graphic horror media and I just felt like it lacked tact in certain regards. It was also a bit corny I fear…
Though I enjoyed the setting and the magic system, which are things I enjoy in Bardugo’s previous books too so not much of a surprise there. I will be reading the sequel.
