Love Com, Vol. 17 by Aya Nakahara

5.0

This was a really refreshing shoujo comedy-romance! It was way more comedy than it was romance, but whatever romantic scenes were there, felt incredibly relatable and hit you right in the feels. The chemistry between the main leads was the best I have seen in any shoujo romance. The manga did have its fair share of convoluted love triangles, squares, and other shapes, but each character had depth and their own quirky personality. The side characters were actually important to the plot and weren’t tossed aside whenever convenient, which was one thing I really appreciated.

Another thing I found different was the main character, Risa. She was very different from your typical shoujo heroine, and her personality had me in stitches. Plus, as I have already mentioned, the chemistry between the leads is iconic, and their friendship was as satisfying to watch as their budding romance.

The writing is so good, that even cliché scenes were transformed into something totally original and hilarious. All in all, this is one of the most unique, funny, and relatable high school romance manga I have come across. Tens across the board!
