The Daylight War by Peter V. Brett
1.0

Gave up at page 207. Here's why:

1) books 1 & 2 laid the "rules" of this world and expectations for the series. There'd been no coarse language in those books. Book 3 is full of it. If the language has been there from book 1, it wouldn't have bothered me, but as I say, it wasn't - so its sudden introduction in volume 3 was jarring and felt as if a different author were writing...or as your dad was suddenly telling you a dirty limerick.

2) the sexualisation of children. Boy, this irks me. And the fact the publishers published it irks me. As someone who works with people who've experienced horrific abuse, I can't understand a middle aged man writing about 11 and 13 year old girls' sexual feelings and experiences with no other agenda than entertaining readers. It's just ... disturbing.

3) Renna. ... Why???

That'll do me. Sadly has lost a fan.
