Het meisje uit de trein by Irma Joubert

5.0

I'm not normally so keen on war stories. They are too full of unrealistically good heroes and (worse) simplistically evil villains and often with a glorification of violence. So, it was with some trepidation that I discovered the book opening in the middle of WW II. But my doubts were soon dispelled. This is a book of complex characters, unexpected twists and moving scenes. I very rarely give a book 5 stars, but this one deserved it. It will remain with me.
