I really thought I’d like this book more than I did. After absolutely loving Lock Every Door, I jumped into this one expecting another wild ride. I read the whole thing in one day, so the setup definitely hooked me, but the last few chapters completely ruined it for me.
It felt like twist after twist after twist, and not in a good way. It was more like, “Hey! Surprise! [Insert ridiculous twist here],” and I’d just sit there like ????. Then the next chapter would go on explaining that twist in detail, only to end with yet another twist that needed yet another long explanation. This cycle kept going right up until the end, and honestly, it wore me out.
I get that a lot of people loved how “twisty” it was, and I can see the appeal, but I just couldn’t get behind it. Some of the twists were decent, and one I actually saw coming, but one in particular completely lost me. It felt less like a clever reveal and more like the story had been deliberately misleading by leaving out key information just to force a shocking moment.
