All That Moves Us: Life Lessons from a Pediatric Neurosurgeon by Jay Wellons
4.0
I listened to this author read his audiobook memoir and found that the essays and stories were very interesting, though his tone is monotonous and calm and was great for making me sleepy. I love that there are wonderful doctors in the world like this and I really liked the father-son narrative. The book is really more of a collection of essays reflecting on his work and doesn’t have much narrative arc. He does a good job in most places making this relatable for non-medically trained people but sometimes he strings together a bunch of medical terms in one sentence that makes it hard to follow. Overall I really enjoyed this book and reading the doctors perspective. Clearly he is just a lovely, brilliant human being that uses his gifts to make the world a better place and that’s always worth listening to.
