Words in Deep Blue
by Cath Crowley
*I read this in August 2017 and reviewed it then. I read it as an paperback. I decided to DNF at 46%. As always, this is my honest opinion. All reviews can be found at theterriblebookblogger.wordpress.com
I should have known I wouldn’t enjoy this book, but the cover drew me in.
This is a perfectly adequate book. I gave it 3 stars because it’s not a bad book in any sense of the word. The character and premise are interesting. There’s a nice story. It’s grammatically correct.
I was just bored. But it’s a me thing, not a book thing.
I read Crowley’s Graffiti Moon and didn’t love it, but again, didn’t hate it either. It was just there. So, again, it’s a me thing.
The author’s writing style doesn’t work for me. I feel like I’m too detached from the characters to really get involved in the story. This is supposed to be emotional, but I wasn’t connecting with any of the characters.
I could have kept reading, but I felt like I was taking so much time trying to read such a short book and since I wasn’t really connecting with the characters, I decided I would put it aside.
I think a lot of people will enjoy this book, I, unfortunately, am not one of them.
