Attracted to the Earl is a romance that revolves around secrets. Guy, who never wanted or expected to become the Earl of Argyle, hides behind his friend, Kit and locked doors so that no one will find out he cannot read or write. He has been belittled by his father and thinks himself stupid, although he had a successful career in the Navy. Now, his brother has died leaving him to shoulder the Earldom and fight his greedy cousin from declaring him legally incompetent. Then a beautiful artist shows up at his manor and throws his world into a tailspin. He wants to tell her his secrets and marry her, but she too has secrets.

I wanted to like this book, but it seemed there were too many side stories and past horrors that just kept popping up. Then the ending was so abrupt and tied everything up neatly, but it was a too neat and easy conclusion. It was not the light read I was expecting, and the darkness from the characters pasts conflicted with the romantic undertones.
