The Legend of Korra: Turf Wars, Part One by Michael Dante DiMartino
5.0

What can I say about this comic, other then it was utterly amazing. Since I am a sucker for all things related with Atla and lok.

But the comic starts right where the series left off. Asami and Korra finally confess their feelings for one another. While in the spirit world the spirits confess that they are unhappy with Korra creating the portal in Republic City. As the vacation for Korra and Asami comes to an end, both of them not wanting to head back to reality just yet. Both kiss on another passionately before the spirit found of Korra comes to pick them up and take them to the Republic City portal. They both go to Korra's parents in the South Pole to reveal that they are now an official couple. Tonraq and Senna are thrilled but share with them that the world won't be so accepting to their newfound relationship. Since Korra is Korra after all she storms off after what her parents have told her.

The couple comes back through the portal during a conflict between a business tycoon and the airbenders. He says that everyone is trespassing and says get off my property and such. Korra then threatens him in a avatar state fashion and he runs away.

Scene change to the bending brothers both being cops. The triple threats have a new leader. He is going to be a big problem later. Another scene change to Korra and asami at the camp for the refugees who were affected by the new spirit portal. The president is a dick as usual, but Zhu li is running against him in the next election.

Kya reveals she is gay, and she is happy that Korra and Asami are together. It is revealed that Aang was super supportive of Kya and her sexual orientation. We find out that air nation were super accepting people, but the Fire nation and earth kingdom weren't so accepting. Fire Lord sozin even made same sex couples a criminal act. Kya even told Korra and Asami that avatar kyoshi loved both men and women and no one was accepting of her. Kya the gave some advice and said "was until the time is right to tell everyone the good news." Bolin and Mako show afterwords to say hello since Korra and Asami came back from their vacation. Bolin and Mako sense they are acting weird. Korra and Asami are about to tell them but then spirit Jinora shows up asking for back up at the spirit portal. They show up a battle begins and Asami gets hurt. Korra kicks some major butt and then comes to Asami 's aide. Making sure she is alright she then kisses her. Then Bolin figures out they are a couple and then says we have dibs on your first double date. Mako is acting weird of course but is happy.
While that was happening the spirits come to defend the portal. One of the spirits who sided with Korras uncle came and turned the new leader of the triple threats into a half human and half spirit monster in a sense. They then flee. It then comes out that all the triple threats are working for the business tycoon who is trying to make the spirit portal into an amusement park. But the triple threat boss says he's had enough and now he is in charge. We get a close up of his now dismembered face and the comic cuts off.

Now we must wait for more content.

I loved it 5/5 stars.

August 21 re-read: Still as amazing as the first read. If anything I feel even more in love with this story and picked up some things I missed the first time.
