On Chesil Beach
by Ian McEwan
3.5*
“This is how the entire course of a life can be changed: by doing nothing.”
Thought-provoking and extremely frustrating little book... It is amazing how McEwan drops you so quickly into the midst of this narration. I couldn’t help but react to each and every mistake the protagonists make, wanting to shake them into sense! It is like witnessing a train wreck, rushing to its demise, and not being able to do anything. Not enjoyable per se but fascinating, in a macabre way.
