Heartless Hunter is a ‘new adult’ genre book which started out as a loose retelling of the Scarlet Pimpernel(I love that the author brings up the original book towards the beginning of the story). After a while though,it morphed into something more. This book raises question of is there ever really a ‘good side’ when people are at war. 
This book was high on angst which is centered around miscommunication. While I usually am the first to say nope to this trope, in this storyline I was absolutely here for it!I personally thought it worked exactly how it needed to.  I am absolutely on pins and needles wanting to know what will happen next!
