Leaving Everything Most Loved
by Jacqueline Winspear
This was the least interesting Maisie Dobbs novel to me. The mystery itself is fine, two Indian women are shot and killed. The brother of one of the women comes to Maisie to solve the case because the police didn't do much of an investigation.
I do wish there had been any kind of explanation of how all the dots connected. Based on what was written on the pages, Maisie shouldn't have been able to solve the case. She does solve it, but mostly with information she appears to have either gained in between chapters or simply made up to fit the facts.
I know from the book list here that there is at least another novel to come, but reading the end makes it feel as if it's the last novel in the series. If this is the last novel, it's a disappointing end to an otherwise entertaining series.
