Thoughts: I loved this book just as much as the first. It really built on everything from the first book. There was more insight into the brothers’ relationships. There was more Ruby and Charlie. There were more hints at the relationship between Wyatt and Fallon. And it still managed to focus on Davis and Dakota.
I really loved the second chance aspect of this story. Both Davis and Dakota made mistakes and kept secrets and I liked that it wasn’t one sided. Davis could have asked Dakota to stay, but that could have ended in resentment. Dakota could have come back to Resurrection, but then she would have been sacrificing her dreams. I think they ended up right where they were supposed to be. They both had things to work on/towards in the six years they were apart and I thought their relationship was better for it.
I liked that once Davis was all in, he really fought for Dakota. He wanted everyone to finally know how in love with Dakota he was and finally told her all his secrets. While Dakota was trying to suss out Davis’ feelings, she had a lot to overcome herself. She had to accept her place in Resurrection and needed time to come to terms with becoming a mother. Davis did a great job of giving her space and pushing when she needed to be pushed.
This was a fantastic story and only left me wanting more from the Montgomery brothers and Resurrection.
