This was weird but classic Rooney. I didn't love any of the characters, but I did at least LIKE Simon and Eileen - not as much Alice and Felix. The plot wasn't that compelling to me, except I was a sucker for the Simon/Eileen relationship development. What redeemed the book overall for me was weirdly the long emails where Rooney was basically writing essays via the characters. Those were so interesting, fun, and really won me over.
