This book gave me so much anxiety... "When her mom died.."... umm, did you mean, when you killed her?
Stories are really simple, I think it would be "easy read with one sitting" kind of book, if the topic would not be so disturbing. I really tried to read it as nice stories of cows, but I did not manage to ignore the reality.
That kind of farms are rare, I imagine this is what people think of, if they talk about "humane farms", but it's still nonsense. Sure, you let your cows run around "choose their own field", name them, hug them etc, but in the end they still end up the same.

Also the book talks "lovely stories" of female cows, and barely mention male ones- cause we all know what happens to them, and it would not be so positive book, if they would talk about all the killings as well.
And while spending time with cows you do learn about their joy, fear, friendships etc, author still wrote too many of her own thoughts as cows- "and then she looked at me, and thought..." , or about chicken "and she was so happy about..." (when chicken just ran away) Did they really think that or it was made up just in sake of good story telling?

So long story short: nice try, but I aint buying that BS.
