The Remedy by Suzanne Young

5.0

I absolutely loved The Program Duology. When I saw this book was being written, I figured it was a continuation of the duology, but what it actually is, is so much better. I think I liked this one more than the first 2.
The emotions that this book evokes are intense and very varied. On one hand, the idea of what a closer does is just so disturbing and sick. But on the other hand I found the idea of a closer to be synonymous with a reader. Think about it... you pick up a book to read, you study it closely, you are in it for a certain amount of time, and during this time you become the character in the book. Sometimes you become them so wholly that it is hard to let go and move on. A reader lives in a world where ones identity becomes blurred. Often times, a reader will find themselves wishing for the life of the character they are reading about, which makes parting with the book that much more difficult.
The world in The Remedy is one that both scares you and excites you. It's so different from any other story out there and I loved visiting it. But it's not necessarily a world I would want to permanently live in. Unless of course I could be with Deacon.
