Ashes of You by Catherine Cowles

5.0

This is the last of the Lost and Found series and is an age gap, nanny/boss, single dad story. After an unbelievable trauma, Hallie Astor is ready to step back into the real world and out of the controlling hands of her parents. To do this, she heads back to the region she was kidnapped from and accepts the job as the nanny to Lawson Hartley's children, Charlie (6), Drew (13) and Luke (16). What could be safer than working for the Chief of Police, the man with the beautiful blue eyes, the man that rescued you all those years ago? Hallie starts to settle into her life, with adorable Charlie, wannabe ladies man Drew, and the angry teenager in the form of Luke. It is wonderful to see how Hallie breaks down the defenses of this family, who themselves come with unbelievable baggage and trauma and helps to heal them. She sees the pain in Luke's soul and shares a little of her pain, prompting Luke to take on the role of protector. But how can you protect when the enemy is hidden in plain sight? Hallie and Lawson's love story is glorious and with the three boys thrown in, there is always some drama going on!
This book is jaw droppingly fantastic. Every page is beautifully written and story flow and character progression move along at exactly the right pace. This is a story of resilience, hope, love, trust, strength and the power of family. A great end to an epic series.
