The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

5.0

I love this book. I love this book. I LOVE this book. (Get ready for a lot of love.) This book is so important for obvious reasons, and it tackles so many issues than just racism and discrimination. I loved the themes of identity, community, and family. Especially family. Starr’s parents were visible characters that were fleshed out with backgrounds and personalities. The dynamic of this family was like a team who were protecting and supporting each other. We just need more books like this overall that are not afraid to speak out about the injustices of our system.
