Let me start off by saying this book took me a while to finish. It is an incrediblyyyy slow start, a little way too slow for me tbh, I almost thought this had to go in my DNF pile. It really started to pick up around ¾ of the book, between the pages of 300-400 or so.

The book starts off with 44 year old Dominic Russo eating at a pizza restaurant and 39 year old Ally Morales is his server. Dominic, being the grumpy man that he is, gets Ally fired. Dominic’s mother then offers Ally a job at their magazine label & hires her. She starts working at their company & constantly butts heads with Dominic. Sooner or later, the two slowly become closer than they want to & one thing leads to another.

The two main characters in this story (Dominic & Ally) act way too childish/immature for people that are supposed to be aged 44 and 39 in my opinion. The constant bickering back and forth between the two, and the sexual tension that dragged on for almost 400 pages is kind of what turned me off for this book. Why have characters that are 40+ years old if you’re going to have them act like they’re in their 20’s!! I just couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that both characters were supposed to be 40+ and still both acted the way they did towards one another.

The beginning & middle parts of this book were wayy too slow for me, and kind of repetitive with how much they argued back and forth with each other. Nonetheless, I still somewhat enjoyed this book.. but only the last part of it.
