What Lies Between Us by John Marrs
4.0

Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

I honestly don't know how I feel about this book and the characters lol. It's definitely not my favorite John Marrs book, but I still enjoyed it. It took me a little while to get into, but it then picked up.

I like that throughout the book you don't know who actually is the villain and who is the victim. Sometimes you think Maggie is the villain and Nina is the victim, but then there are other times you think it's the reverse.

But once things are revealed you realize that
Nina is definitely the villain and that, though Maggie is not completely innocent
, everything she does is out of love for Nina. Nina is crazy, and Maggie should have gotten her help from the get-go. It was also interesting to realize that
Allister actually wasn't abusing Nina as we were led to believe. He was just planning to leave, and Nina then lost her shit.

I didn't like the ending.
I wish Nina got what she deserved. It's unfortunate that both Maggie and Dylan died and we didn't see Nina suffer any consequences
. But overall a good thriller. My second favorite by him.
