Fox by DJ Krimmer
5.0
Fox is the Hel’s Ink series opener and is the grumpy/sunshine, tattoo shop, medical disability rep, father’s best friend, tattooed mmc, forbidden age gap romance of Janie and Fox.
Janie is a social media influencer living her best glamorous, carefree life. She has built the perfect network of friends who love being seen in all the right places whilst mingling with all the right people. However, Janie is hiding a medical issue having suffered with tremors since she was a little girl ending her dream of following in her father’s footsteps and becoming a tattoo artist. When Janie’s father passes away leaving her his beloved tattoo shop, she sees this as an opportunity to change her career path, only there is one grumpy, gruff man standing in her way, her father’s protégé Fox. A battle of wills ensues between the two, however, the chemistry between them is electric and their interactions soon become heated.
Fox is a renowned tattoo artist who honed his craft under the watchful eye of Janie’s dad. Fox was under the assumption that when anything happened to his mentor/best friend, the shop would be left to him, so is hugely offended when he finds out it has been left to entitled spoiled brat Janie. The pair butt heads immediately. He see’s her as this attention seeking air head who is only hanging on to the shop instead of handing it over to him to annoy the living daylights out of him. Yet the more time they spend together he realises there is more to Janie than meets the eye, and despite him trying his best to resist the sexy flamed haired siren that has infiltrated his life, the pair collide in a fiery passion.
Maxine Mitchell and Sebastian York take DJ Krimmer’s words from page to audio and perform it perfectly in duet style.
Ms Mitchell’s smoky, honeyed tone perfectly captured Janie’s vulnerable yet ambitious and passionate personality. I also loved the way in which Maxine brought Janie’s medical condition to life, it was done with such care and respect.
Mr York’s deep, gravelly, resonant voice captured Fox’s overbearing, domineering, hard on the outside soft on the inside personality perfectly.
In summation, this forbidden age gap romance with a pampered princess and a tattoo artist whose lives are thrown together after the reading of a Will doesn’t go the way either of them expect it to, who start off as enemies until the chemistry builds between them until they give in to they desires and they become lovers, that highlighted a medical disability and did so in a gentle and respectful manner and took us on a rollercoaster of emotions that was totally unexpected and surprising from this new to me author, I loved every single moment of this audiobook. A truly captivating listen from start to finish, I cannot wait for more from this incredibly talented author.
