The Fiction by David Rubín, Curt Pires

2.0

This is a short series (4 issues). Interesting premise, a group of children find a mystical book which when they read it aloud it transports them into a fantastical realm. Things are all fun and games until someone gets their eye poked out. And not just their eye, their whole soul, fiber, and being too. In other words one of them gets stuck in the realm and the rest go off to live their lives until in adulthood. Then the adult ex-friends find themselves together again when another one disappears into the fantastical realm. They unite to bring back both missing cohorts.

As I said, interesting premise, but the execution and images did not speak to me. I like to be whisked off to adventures and lose myself in the material, but this comic series did not do it for me. I am sure this will be someone else's cup of tea, but it was not mine. If you have similar tastes to mine, then steer clear of this puppy. There are so many other great things out there to check out.
