Superman: Red Son by Mark Millar
2.0
One of those books I'm very conflicted about. The concept of Superman in Soviet Russia was very intriguing to me but the concept that he got to turn into an evil totalitarian ruler besides his good intentions seems to be just American paranoia and stigma. There's enough justification for it but not enough exploration of his character. Sovuet Russia always had its share of supporters and detractors for its ideologies and their mistakes were always going to the extreme, so Superman believing in people who takes extreme measures just seemed prejudiced and further growing the bias. There were some quite interesting use of characters from all the mythos of the character but ultimately it just feels too forced. The ending twist of time travel and Luthor's descendants were really cringey for me.
